Q. What is the difference between a product made with synthetic hair and one made with human hair?

A. Hair products made with human hair are generally much more durable and will last longer than those made with synthetic hair. You cannot apply heat to synthetic hair products unless this is specifically stated. If heated styling appliances can be used, never exceed the maximum temperature recommended.

Wigs and hair extensions made from hair which is not natural hair or remy hair may be made from synthetic hair, heavily processed hair or be of an inferior quality of hair where the hair cuticles lie in all different directions – these wigs and hair extensions can never behave in the same way as natural hair or remy hair.

Q. What is the best way to care for my synthetic hair product?

A. Synthetic hair does not last as long as human hair and needs to be brushed more frequently. To have your synthetic hair piece last as long as possible, after wearing, it is very important that you gently comb it out with a wide-toothed comb before storing it - anything you can do to avoid it tangling will help prolong its life. If you have a conditioning spray for synthetic hair, after combing, spray the hair ends and leave on a stand to dry. We advise you not to sleep in Effortless Extensions or synthetic/Flexihair wigs or extensions as this will dramatically reduce the lifespan of the product. Keep the piece on a wig stand or packed up in the mesh and package it was originally sent out in.

Q. How should I wash my hair piece or wig?

A. Always remove from your head before washing. Never apply shampoo or conditioner directly onto the hair. Using a sulphate free shampoo, dilute a 10p size amount of shampoo with water and then apply to the hair. Do not allow the hair to tangle and do not scrunch. Follow the same process with a sulphate free conditioner. Comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb blot (but do not rub) with a towel to remove excess water and leave to air dry.

Q. Can you tell me about using glue/adhesive to apply a lace wig?

A. Adhesives/glue are used to apply lace wigs and lace based hair extensions to give a near undetectable hair line and to give the illusion that the hair is growing from the scalp. They are also used to provide greater security for wig and hair piece wears.

People with really oily skins may not be suited to the use of adhesives/glue as oil and oil like substances break down the adhesive products.

SAFETY FIRST! Before applying any adhesive/glue, or remover, you must do a 24 hour Patch Test by placing a strip of the liquid on the underside of your upper arm and leaving it for 24 hours. If there is no adverse reaction, you can apply a strip of the liquid to your hairline (do not apply to any of your own hair). Leave for another 24 hours.  If there is an adverse reaction to any of these tests, remove the product immediately by rinsing with cold water and consult a doctor immediately.  Do not apply any product to broken, damaged, irritated or sensitive skin.

Q. What is a Patch Test?

A. Patch Test is a test that is done to check if there is any sensitivity, reaction or other issues with products.

Q. What Are Baby Hairs?

A. These are short hairs which are sewed along the hairline of a wig or hair piece to mimic the way some people have shorter hairs around their own natural hair line.
